About The Role

As a Backend Developer, you’ll work alongside experienced engineers to build, improve, and deliver web interfaces that are clean, performant, and accessible. You will contribute to real product development cycles and gain hands-on experience with our modern tech stack.

    • Design, develop, and maintain RESTful and event-driven APIs that enable seamless communication between our internal services and external partners.
    • Integrate third-party APIs (e.g., banking data providers, credit bureaus, CRM platforms) and ensure performance, reliability, and data integrity across systems.
    • Collaborate closely with product, frontend, and data teams to understand requirements and implement backend solutions that drive business outcomes.
    • Monitor and optimize system performance, ensuring scalability, security, and efficiency.
    • Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve backend issues in a timely and effective manner.
    • Maintain high standards of code quality through code reviews, documentation, and adherence to best practices.
    • Contribute to the continuous improvement of our backend architecture and integration strategies.
    • Assist in scoping and implementing internal tooling to enhance developer productivity and automate workflows. Monitor and optimize system performance, ensuring scalability, security, and efficiency.

    We’re Excited About You Because…

    • 3+ years of professional experience in backend engineering, with a strong focus on API design and integrations.
    • Proficiency in backend programming languages such as PHP
    • Deep understanding of RESTful API architecture and principles; experience with GraphQL is a plus.
    • Experience with third-party API integration, including OAuth, webhooks, and data mapping/normalization.
    • Strong understanding of databases (SQL and NoSQL), message queues (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ), and caching mechanisms.
    • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker), and cloud platforms like AWS or GCP.
    • Strong communication and collaboration skills with an ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced startup environment.
    • Prior experience in fintech, lending, or working with financial data providers is a strong plus.
    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
